The Good News: Government Funds AI Adoption
Singapore's government supports SMEs adopting AI. For eligible companies and projects, a grant can cover a meaningful share of the cost. Below is what the scheme offers — and the timing point that catches more applicants than any other.
The EDG, MRA and PSG cease on 29 September 2026, and no new applications are accepted under them after that date. From 30 September 2026 the EDGE Grant replaces all three. Applications submitted before 30 September 2026 are still assessed under the old scheme's rules, and ongoing projects are supported through to completion and claim disbursement.
Apply before the work begins. Applications are generally not supported retrospectively, so a project that has already started, been contracted or paid for is normally not eligible. If you think a grant may apply, get the application in first.
The EDGE Grant
Support level: Up to 70% for SMEs, up to 50% for non-SMEs — support levels differ by activity
Annual cap: S$100,000 per year across all activities, refreshed on 1 April each year
Sub-cap: Up to S$30,000 of that cap may be used on single-function digital solutions, integrated enterprise systems and selected automation activities
Coverage: 8 business areas and more than 100 activities, including Automation & Digitalisation
Administered by: Enterprise Singapore
Eligibility requires a business entity registered in Singapore with at least 30% Singaporean and/or Singapore PR ownership. Criteria and support levels are set by Enterprise Singapore and can change. We cannot tell you which support level or which cap applies to your project — that depends on the activity you apply under, and Enterprise Singapore decides it.
Step-by-Step Application Process
Step 1: Eligibility Check
Registered in Singapore? At least 30% Singaporean and/or PR owned? Complying with laws?
Step 2: Define Your Project
What process? What problem? Expected impact? Total cost? Which activity does it fall under?
Step 3: Get Vendor Quotes
Setup cost, training, monthly recurring, total project cost.
Step 4: Submit Application
Company info, project description, cost breakdown, expected outcomes — before you sign or pay
anything.
Step 5: Assessment
Enterprise Singapore reviews and may request additional information. Check current processing
timelines with Enterprise Singapore rather than planning around a rule of thumb.
Step 6: Implement & Claim
Keep invoices. Document progress. Submit claim after completion.

The figures above simply apply the 70% SME ceiling to a round number. Support levels differ by activity, so 70% is a ceiling rather than a rate you can assume, and annual caps apply. Support levels, which cap applies and eligibility are determined by Enterprise Singapore.
No grant? You can still do this. Smaller, self-funded projects are scoped to your budget and can start immediately — no application, no waiting for approval.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Starting before you apply. The most common and most costly. Applications are generally not supported retrospectively, so signing, paying or beginning work first normally makes the project ineligible.
Not identifying the activity. EDGE is organised around business areas and activities. Work out which activity your project falls under, because that is what shapes the support level and which cap applies — and it is Enterprise Singapore's call, not your vendor's.
A vague project scope. Be specific about the process being improved, the outcome you expect, and how you will measure it.
